We’re now just two days away from the Brit Awards where First Aid Kit have been nominated for ‘International Band’. Although somewhat commercial in nature, the Brits are by far the best known UK music awards and are recognised internationally. Previous winners in this category include big names like R.E.M, U2, and the Killers. If First Aid Kit are to win, they will have to beat the hugely successful American duo, the Carters ( Beyoncé and Jay-Z). If they do win you can expect a surge in popularity as large numbers of the population will be made aware of First Aid Kit for the first time.

The Brit Awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday, 20th February at the O2 Arena, London.

The event is being broadcast live at 20.00 UK time on ITV and STV UK television channels and can be streamed online at:

As First Aid Kit continue to announce festival appearances for the summer, the big question is whether they are going to play Glastonbury.

The Glastonbury Festival runs from Wednesday 26th June to Sunday 30th June and notably, FAK have not yet announced any other engagements for this period. If we look at their current tour schedule, there’s a gap between their last European date on 13th June and their next show in Canada on 5th July. Of course, it may well be this gap is earmarked as a rest or rehearsal period, or that alternative shows are planned.

Is a Glastonbury appearance likely given that FAK played the previous festival which took place in 2017? Well, the answer to this isn’t clear. Some artists have played consecutive festivals but these are in the minority. On the other hand, this year is a somewhat special case, as there was no festival in 2018. What can be said is that First Aid Kit were a big hit with the Glastonbury crowd in 2017 and many people think their performance was outstanding.

We know from interviews that FAK themselves consider the Glastonbury Festival to be very special. Of course, even if they wanted to make an appearance, there’s no guarantee they’d be able to – the decision may not be entirely in their hands. Ultimately it will be down to the festival organisers to decide who gets to play.  However, should the opportunity present itself, I have a sneaking suspicion that First Aid Kit might just find it too hard to resist! All we can say at the moment is that Glastonbury is still a possibility.

First Aid Kit will play the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday 14th July 2019. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, February 13th, at 10AM EST.
